Logitech - Desk of 2034: Envisioning the Future of Interactive Workspaces
Since even before an architect, 3d concept designer or anything, I've always been an AVID gamer.
So, because of that I could identify some problems that were never resolved in my entire life. For example, perfect ergonomics for a mouse that I could use to play a FPS game, as example, but also do 3d modeling with comfort. We face problems as different size of hands or types of grips.
So I came with the idea of an Inflatable Mouse (that could also extend this functionality to other devices).
Designing an inflatable mouse involves leveraging advanced materials, innovative engineering, and cutting-edge technology to create a functional, ergonomic, and portable device. Here's a comprehensive vision of how an inflatable mouse could be feasible to produce with technology expected to be available ten years from now
Concept:
An inflatable mouse that can transition from a compact, deflated state to a fully functional, ergonomic mouse when inflated. This mouse would be lightweight, easy to transport, and designed for both casual and professional use.
Key Features
Advanced Materials (Smart Polymers), Inflation Mechanism, Structural Integrity, Ergonomic Design, Integrated Eletronics, User Interface.
An inflatable mouse feasible for production in the next ten years would leverage advanced materials, miniaturized electronics, and innovative design principles to create a portable, ergonomic, and functional device. By integrating smart polymers, flexible circuitry, efficient micro-pumps, and customizable ergonomic features, this concept could revolutionize portable computing and gaming peripherals, offering unparalleled convenience and user experience.
Steps to make it work:
1- Place your hand over the mouse
2- The mouse identifies and inflates accordingly to the user’s hand
3- The surface is all sensitive, so depending on where the fingers are located, the buttons are defined in an ergonomic range around it and the micro-haptic actuators in that range are activated to simulate tactile feedback (if desired) and the touch-sensitive surface is
Identify – Place hand: Right/left handed, hand size, grip
Inflation/Deflation – Depending on which hand it’s tilts to adjust

The goal was to present a visual story that encapsulates your vision for this competition in just a week (on site in Ireland).
It wasn't the perfect 3d model or the best rendering that would count the most, but the story telling behind the idea and the concept was illustrated.
The designs were evaluated based on their originality, desirability, the innovative use
of computational design technology, and the depth of thought given to the future
implications of your design.
